Rank Your Domain had the opportunity to help The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to create the Global Vector Hub. It is the first international resource open to the public as well as institutions. This interactive interface aims at improving access to resources and databases on vector-borne diseases, thereby improving preparedness for epidemics.

Our Work

We created an interactive globe interface with modern web design and a large database. The centrepiece of the website is the rotating globe, which allows the user to choose which area they would like to obtain information on. The main purpose of the website is to provide information and research on vector-borne diseases. Therefore, we focused on creating a large database where users can share, download, and filter data as appropriate.

The look of the website is minimalistic making it easy to navigate. User experience was of utmost importance to us, which is why we created a feature that enables users to access data from different networks without leaving the site. The system can also display this data as a global heatmap, and links off to additional related resources that can be downloaded.

What Lies Ahead

This project is the first step to transform the way vector control and vector research communities operate and communicate. However, more is still to come. We are further working on building discussion forums and networking for the Global Vector Hub to bolster its effectiveness as a platform.
