Seamless Migration to AWS Cloud Technology With No Disruption to Day to Day Business

Translation Management are a reputable translation services company based in Salisbury. Approaching the end of the lease on their office premises, Translation Management approached Rank Your Domain to assist them with a total migration to a secure, reliable cloud-based environment providing them with controlled desktops and their business applications and files.

Rank Your Domain is a longstanding and trusted IT partner to Translation Management and so we were able to facilitate Translation Management’s migration across to cloud technologies seamlessly and with no disruption to normal business activities. Our technical expertise in AWS, Microsoft systems engineering and cloud technologies in general was invaluable.

Following a requirement gathering exercise, Rank Your Domain created a proposal to set up a hosted virtual desktop solution in a private AWS-hosted environment that would allow all users to work from home, accessing a secure replica of their on-premises IT systems. This prompted some further discussions and demonstrations to the client of the proposed system and the final architecture and costs were laid out in a detailed proposal.

Meeting the Client Deadline

The end of the lease was cited as the deadline for this project and, based on this, a switchover date was agreed and implementation work began in AWS with the set up of the environment, establishment of the servers, and creation of the user accounts, policies, licensing and access arrangements. Once the environment had been established, it was handed to the client for a period of user acceptance testing, user guide creation and the final preparatory steps for the switchover weekend.

On the switchover weekend, a final sync of business data was conducted between the on-premise and hosted systems, and users were inducted into the new hosted desktops at which point a final operational test was conducted, and by Sunday afternoon, all users were able to work successfully from the hosted system.

Since the migration to Amazon AWS, Translation Management have had virtually no downtime, a tribute to Rank Your Domain’s diligence and the platform itself.

The new platform has exceeded our expectations and we are very happy that the project was delivered on time, with no disruption and within the specified budget. The whole exercise has allowed Translation Management to save costs and enabled all users to work seamlessly from home– something that has proven vital in recent months.
